Breadfruit, Ulu, Artocarpus altilis 'Ulu' is the Hawaiian word for Breadfruit, and is defined as "To grow, increase, spread; growth; increase or rising of the wind; to protect." One of the first 'canoe" plants the Polynesians brought with them to Hawaii, Breadfruit has played an important role in the health, growth and prosperity of the Hawaiian culture.
