Calendula

DESCRIPTION

Calendula (Calendula officinalis) is in the marigold family native to Central Europe and the Mediterranean. Calendula is an annual with bright green leaves and yellow or orange flowers that are edible. Throughout history it has been noted for its healing, antiseptic, and detoxifying properties. Ancient Greece, Rome, India, and Arabic cultures used marigold and calendula to treat ailments and as offerings to their gods. Referred to as the "sunshine" herb, Calendula brings light and an air of happiness to those who use it. Its protective qualities help fight off infection and disease, while its cellular regeneration qualities help heal wounds, cuts and abrasions.
