Ginger

Description

Ginger, Yellow Ginger, Zingiber officinale Ginger is a rhizome widely used as a spice or medicine. It is a herbaceous perennial which grows about 3 or more feet tall with slender green leaves and yellow flowers. In the winter, the aerial parts die back, sending energy to the roots and giving way for harvest. An aficionado when it comes to digestion, Ginger is renowned for helping conditions of the stomach. Its repertoire includes, but is not limited to: indigestion, nausea, cramping, constipation and stagnation. Considered a heating circulatory stimulant, Ginger promotes bloodflow where it has either become congested or diminished. This allows Ginger to be helpful with headaches, menstrual cramps and conditions of cold, stiff extremities. Ginger boosts the immune system via a well-functioning circulatory system and helps move out pathogens, toxins and waste.
