Lemon Balm

DESCRIPTION

Lemon Balm, Melissa officinalis Lemon balm is a hardy perennial with toothed, oval light green leaves and small yellow white flowers. Lemon Balm prefers full sun and rich soils. Known by Greek and Romans long ago as a useful aid to revive spirits and chase away melancholy. Known as one of nature's most efficient antidepressants, the pure aroma of Lemon Balm is uplifting. It is a phenomenal nervine, nourishing and calming to the nervous system, thus helping conditions of anxiety, sleeplessness and even infections of the nervous system, like shingles, due to its antiviral compounds. Lemon Balm works directly with the thyroid, bringing balance to hyperthyroidism. It also has an action on the stomach, helping digest foods and dispel gas.
