Mulberry

DESCRIPTION

Mulberry, Morus spp. Mulberry is a deciduous tree or shrub, growing up to 80 feet, but most remain smaller than 20 feet. They have a nutritious foliage with ovate, toothed leaves that are 4-8 inches long. Their fruit is edible and very sweet. There are many different varieties of Mulberry and they originate from all over the world. While the Mulberry fruit is often referred to, we utilize the leaf for its abundant and unique medicinal qualities. Mulberry is famed for its help in regulating diabetes. It contains gallic acid, a compound that reduces blood glucose levels and is beneficial for both the treatment and prevention of diabetes. In addition to regulating blood sugar, Mulberry leaf contains beneficial enzymes that support digestive health and fortifying compounds that support heart health. While Mulberry can be used specifically for the regulation of diabetes, it is a tonic herb that helps support many vital functions within the body and contributes to overall health.
