DESCRIPTION
Pineapple Sage,
Salvia elegans Pineapple Sage is a perennial shrub native to Mexico and Guatemala. It has edible tubular red flowers that are full of nectar and a scent to the leaves similar to pineapple. The red flowers attract butterflies and especially hummingbirds. Pineapple Sage is a delicate member of the Mint family and tropical cousin of Garden Sage. It contains many of the same clarifying, digestive and immune-boosting qualities as its Mediterranean counterpart, yet also contributes a calming, cooling and paradisiacal element to a tea or remedy. It is sweet and relaxing in nature, with adaptogenic properties that help reduce stress and anxiety.
