Sage

DESCRIPTION

Sage, Garden Sage, Salvia officinalis Sage is a native plant to the Mediterranean and North Africa. It is a hardy perennial with soft, ovate, resinous, pastel green leaves. Salvia comes from the Latin verb of “salvere” which means “to save” and has been used as a panacea throughout history. Sage has a historical affinity for the lungs and respiratory health, helping clear up afflictions of the throat and boost the immunity. A strengthening herb, Sage tonifies the nervous system and supports the stomach in cases of digestive debility. It is rich in essential oils and compounds that ignite enzyme activity, increasing metabolism and aiding in defense against pathogens. It contains Rosemarinic acid, a compound that is an anti-inflammatory and improves memory. Indeed a panacea herb, Sage even is particularly keen when it comes to easing symptoms of menopause. Sage is a wonderful herb to use in the kitchen or have in your medicine cabinet!
